The History of Polio in the U.S.
David Oshinsky remembers growing up in an America terrified by polio - a plague that put every child at risk until a vaccine was finally developed in the mid-1950s. Today, the disease has been 99% eradicated, but Oshinsky says that isn't enough. A final push to defeat polio is critical.
