November 05, 2012 GIS Mapping & GPS Tracking for Polio in Nigeria A Geographic Information System (GIS) by Esri is being deployed in Nigeria to help health workers collect data and target specific areas for immunization efforts in the fight to eradicate polio. With support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and in partnership with the World Health Organization and the Nigerian government, the Esri team worked with local partners to create a system aimed at improving the effectiveness of polio eradication efforts.
