Welcome to the new Gates Notes
The Gates Notes is where I share my thoughts on some of the issues I’m focused on: improving education, the lives of those living in poverty, and finding cleaner, more accessible sources of energy.
I’m lucky that I get to spend much of my time focusing on these challenges. I read a lot and get to talk with truly brilliant and insightful people. Some of the experts I’m learning from or working with will share their innovative ideas and breakthrough solutions on this site as well.
My hope is that by providing these insights and opinions, more people will learn about the issues and actively work to overcome these challenges.
I'll also post information about other personal interests such as philanthropy, technology, travels and books. My newest review is of a great book - Polio: An American Story - that provides important perspectives on the history of the disease, the impact on our society and ultimately the vaccine. There's also a short video on the history of polio in the U.S. with the book's author, David Oshinsky.
