Charity Navigator’s Newest Rating Dimension: Helping Change the World for the Better
Over the past 10 years, Charity Navigator’s free charity ratings have enabled millions of donors to access relevant information before they make a donation – giving them the peace of mind they desire.
Founded in 2001, Charity Navigator has become the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. In our quest to help donors, our team of professional analysts has examined tens of thousands of non-profit IRS filings. We’ve used this knowledge to develop an unbiased, objective, numbers-based rating system to assess over 6,000 of America’s best-known and some lesser known, but worthy, charities.
The Charity Navigator rating system includes assessments of financial health, accountability and transparency, and in just a few weeks, will consider how charities report on the results of their work.
In the past year alone, fully 40% of the charities evaluated have made changes to their operations including everything from board composition to the content provided on their web sites.
Charity Navigator has over 6 million visits per year and growing, and our users are estimated to give or invest approximately $10 billion a year in charities. You can see the influence Charity Navigator has to create positive change is enormous!
