Bill travels a lot, but until recently there was one continent he’d never visited: Antarctica. He finally got there in February on a family trip with his father and son.
The three generations of Gateses spent their time learning about the surprisingly rich and diverse ecosystem that is Antarctica in summer. Bill was particularly impressed by the international cooperation that helps protect Antarctica and enables scientists to conduct important research there. He also came to understand why you generally want to stay upwind of a penguin colony.
