Nathan Myhrvold

Nathan Myhrvold is a cofounder of Intellectual Ventures, a privately held company that focuses on new inventions and patents for a wide range of technologies. The former chief technology officer at Microsoft, Nathan has a doctorate in physics from Princeton and he worked with Professor Stephen Hawking on research in cosmology and quantum field theory.

Lowell Wood

Lowell Wood is an astrophysicist who worked with Edward Teller, father of the hydrogen bomb. A member of the Director’s Technical Staff at the University of California’s Lawrence Livermore National Lab, Lowell is also a visiting fellow at the Hoover Institute at Stanford University, and he serves on the board of directors of the Hertz Foundation.

Ed Lazowska

Ed Lazowska is the holder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Chair in Computer Science & Engineering and director of the eScience Institute at the University of Washington. He is a leading researcher in the design, implementation, and analysis of high-performance computing and communication systems.

Ken Caldeira

Ken Caldeira is an atmospheric scientist at the Carnegie Institution’s Department of Global Ecology where he researches long-term climate and geochemical cycles, ocean acidification, climate simulation, and approaches to supplying energy services with diminished environmental impacts. Before joining the Carnegie Institution, Ken was an environmental scientist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Doug Holtzman

Doug Holtzman is a senior program officer in the infectious diseases group at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
